The course aims to train the student in relation to the general principles of Biochemistry and Biochemical Methodology. Then provides knowledge about the structure and function of biological macromolecules, methods and techniques used for their study, metabolism and on the principles of regulation. General Biochemistry: General principles of biochemistry. The amino acids. The peptide bond. Structure of proteins. Hemoglobin. Enzymes and enzyme kinetics. Regulation of enzyme activity. Inhibition of enzyme activity. Mechanism of enzyme action. Allosteric enzymes. Biological macromolecules: lipids and lipoproteins, carbohydrates and glycoproteins, nucleic acids. General principles of metabolism. Glycolysis. Pentose-phosphate cycle. Citric acid cycle. Respiratory chain and oxidative phosphorylation. Glycogen synthesis and glycogen-lysis.
